Office Additions, Remodels, and Renovations
If you’re like many business owners, you’ll need to add more space sooner or later, or modernize the space you already have. Sometimes older offices just aren’t functional anymore. Modern equipment often requires higher electrical loads.
Below are some of the common types of commercial office renovation projects we’ve handled in and near San Diego.
Expanding office space
You can expect some electrical challenges in an office addition project. Our goal is to integrate the new office space into existing systems seamlessly, allowing the electricity to flow smoothly throughout the expanded structure and power everything it needs to without interruption. That means we can’t just walk in and start laying wire. We may need to troubleshoot and to engineer solutions first.
Adding dedicated circuits & wiring to your office / business
Old wiring can render older offices functionally useless, especially if there isn’t dedicated data wiring or security wiring.
It’s often wise to add dedicated circuits for servers and computers, which will prevent them from overloading other devices in your building. Computers vary in the power loads they draw and require. Failing to take this step could mean your building isn’t can’t handle machines of the future.
It may also be wise to add a dedicated circuit for the HVAC system and for any cooling systems your hardware requires.
Whole-office surge protection
Electrical surges are the #1 reason your expensive electronic devices, including servers, printers, copiers, and specialized equipment, might fail. Surge protection is the solution, but “power strip”-style surge protection won’t offer adequate protection to the devices that are vital to your business.
Whole-office surge protection is the answer. A solid surge protection set-up will ensure that all surges are diverted to the ground, where they can no longer harm your equipment.
Contrary to how that might sound, there is no one piece of equipment that can extend full protection to an entire commercial building. Instead, we’ll engineer overlapping protection zones. Some of those zones will be dedicated to protecting data lines alone, which can also be vulnerable to surge damage.
Good indoor lighting for good business
Lighting has a direct effect on the health of your business. That happens in at least three ways:
- Inadequate or dim lighting hurts employee productivity. Poor lighting can cause eyestrain, drowsiness, and headaches. Those mean people in your office aren’t doing their best work, or they’re miserable, or both.
- If customers, clients, patients, or others visit your office, the right lighting can make them feel more comfortable.
- Energy-efficient lighting can reduce your overhead.
